It's finally here. The tech world has been whipping itself into a frenzy for months and this morning saw the launch of Apple's latest addition, the inappropriately named iPad.
Apple is renown for the way it handles PR around its launches and seeing as the announcement took place a few minutes walk from our San Francisco office, a few of us decided to pop along to get a first hand view.
While there wasn't the hoads of crowds that are usually found when a new product hits the stores, there was still a good number of journalists, cameramen, Apple enthusiasts and passersby hanging round outside and all keen to get a glimpse of the latest appliance from Steve Jobs magic factory.
How Apple manages to maintain the hype around a product when it choses to say nothing is in PR terms a minor miracle. And while the initially perceptions of the iPad might not all be glowing (a quick scan on Twitter shows they're not), you can bet that by Christmas time everyone will want one.
