Stephen Fry 'Tweetjacked' for viral game

'Going viral' is still the holy grail of digital PR – but unfortunately, something that can be neither controlled nor guaranteed.

But the makers of a new game, 'Stephen Fry in Quantum of Torrents', seem to have done everything right:

  1. Pick a topical subject. Recently, Fry admitted to using a torrent site to download the season finale of House, as yet unavailable to view or buy in the UK.
  2. 'Tweetjack' a famous person. Fry is an obvious candidate because of his much-lauded love of Twitter and tech.
  3. Create an intelligent game. This one sees Fry as James Bond, collecting illegal torrents and using dictionaries to attack the police!
  4. Get people to @message the link: ...Hi Stephen...have you seen this yet? A game with you in it...
  5. Sit back and enjoy the best promotion you can get. @stephenfry Lawks – I'm a game! I'm so honoured I'm in danger of succumbing to a spasm. RT http://tinyurl.com/npvtw

I really wish I'd thought of this.
