...then look no further than Facebook. An article in the Observer this weekend outlined how the social networking phenomenon has turned matchmaking service for would-be homeowners in the UK looking for somebody to go halves on a mortgage with them.
It sounds like a great plan in theory, especially as average house prices, despite rumours of a downturn, continue to swell well in excess of eight or nine times the average UK wage (average UK wage= £22k; average UK house price = £200k). But I'm not sure I'd be happy to arrange a mortgage, or buy a property with somebody I met via Facebook.
However, there are probably some tell tale signs in people's profiles which could help dodge the worst prospects, such as their favourite TV programmes include a lot of daytime TV or their wall is loaded with comments along the lines of: Another great party last night mate – sorry again about your front door/kitchen/carpet/cat.
