Technorati has published its newest stats on the state of the blogoshpere. Highlights include the new total number of blogs online (50m), the growth rate of the blogosphere (doubles every 6.5 months) and that 175,000 blogs are launched every day.
But what got me interested was the biggest peaks in blogging activity to date. Recent peaks have included the London Bombings of July 2005, the US Superbowl of 2005 (but strangely not 2006) and this year's US national Spelling Bee (!).
But the biggest peak in blogging activity to date has been caused by the Israel / Hezbollah conflict. We are, in turn seeing a 'truer' picture of a conflict less controlled by mass media than any before it. Here's just one site that is showing what western media has censored. And we think the East is the home of censored media.
